Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon (2015)
Plot: Everything, Everything follows after our not-so-normal protagonist, 18-year-old Madeline who has a chronic illness and is basically “allergic to the world”. She never leaves her home and hasn’t left it for 15 years now. One day, a new family arrives next door: a mother, a father, a daughter, a son, Ollie. As they get to know each other, through emails, messages and even face-to-face meetings, they form an inseparable bond and Madeline “wants everything, everything that the world has to offer”. But their love is almost certainly going to be a disaster.
Likes and dislikes: What I had loved about this book was that it was very fast and pacy- it didn’t have long chapters and it didn’t beat around the bush: it just went straight into the story. This story was such a delight to read and it really helped me during one of my reading slumps which I really liked. It also consisted of a couple of my admired tropes: friends to lovers and opposites attract. It was so fun, so cute and a really good read that I would recommend to many people.
Who I would recommend this to and what to read next: this story of two lovers is perfect for helpless romantics: the bond between Ollie and Maddy will make you internally scream [like me but I do it externally]. This book is great for those readers who dislike long chapters and prefer a fast and quick paced book. Although, I would personally, only recommend this book to Year 9/10+ mainly because a few scenes in the book are more suitable for older and matured readers. If you really liked this story, then I would recommend Love From A to Z, Sea of Lost Love and Book Lovers which are all within the romance genre.
