The Humanities Faculty recommend…

“Let us pick up our books and our pens, they are the most powerful weapons.

Malala Yousafzai, I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban

The Humanities faculty have carefully curated subject specific wider reading (autobiographies, non-fiction, historical fiction, and graphic novels) to help you explore key events, ideas, issues and personal stories beyond the classroom. Each book has been chosen to support you in deepening your knowledge and understanding of the world around you – and a world before.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Dr. Seuss, “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

Each recommendation comes with three further suggested reads to further broaden this knowledge and understanding, helping you to become an autonomous, informed, empathetic and critical (being able to think carefully about arguments, assumptions and evidence presented by the writer) reader.
