The Cats We Meet Along The Way by Nadia Mikail (2022)

Plot: The Cats We Meet Along the Way is a story based in Malaysia about a girl called Aisha. She does not have much family with most of them passing away- all she has left is her mother (or Mak), Esah and her older sister, June. But, a few years ago, her sister left their home in needing to find herself, leaving Aisha alone with her grieving mother. Now, the times have changed and the world is going to end soon. With time against them, Aisha, her Mak, Walter and his family set out to find June.

Likes and dislikes: How can I speak of this book? It was not bad but it wasn’t exactly good either. What I liked about this story (and I think you will like this too) was that it really made me question who or what I loved the most in this world. I liked the way that the author embedded these questions into the minds of the readers throughout the story. But unfortunately, this story did not intrigue or fascinate me- it was blessed that I had read it till the end and not put it down. The overall plot was good but it was not thought or planned of very well which was quite unfortunate.

Who I would recommend this to and what to read next: To be honest, I would not recommend this book to everyone- the storyline is not very captivating or intriguing so it will bore many. Although, if you like to read fast paced books and happen to have some free time then go ahead and read it. But one alternative or one to read next would be Julia and the Shark which is also about reuniting with family.
