I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore (2010)
I AM NUMBER FOUR.
There were NINE of us who escaped…
Number ONE was killed in Malaysia.
Number TWO was murdered in England.
Number THREE was hunted down in Kenya.
Before they come for the others, they’ll come for me.
This is the first book in the Lorien Legacies series (seven books in total) which follows the gruesome lives of the numbers. This book is set mainly in Paradise Ohio where Number Four (aka John Smith) has moved after his home town was deemed unsafe by his ‘cepan’, Henri. There are ‘Mogodorians’ hot on their trail who will do anything to kill John. However, there is a charm: the numbers can only be killed in chronological order and whenever one is killed the others get a scar to warn them of who is next. And Number Four knows that he is next…
I really liked this book because it was really captivating from the first page and intriguing. I would say my favourite character is Number Four’s best friend, Sam Goode because even though he is not one of the numbers, he would still do anything for his friend even run away from home and stay with Number Four after he becomes an internationally wanted criminal.
This book would be perfect for people who liked the Harry Potter and/or Alex Rider series as I would say it is a mixture of them. Overall, I would rate this book 5 stars as I really liked it and I could not find any faults with it.
