The Tattooist of Auschwitz, by New Zealand novelist Heather Morris (2018)
I would highly recommend reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz to anyone who loves to read heart touching stories or likes to read something based on a real story.
In the book, we follow twenty-six-year-old Lale Sokolov who, upon arriving in the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, is given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival. Here, he unexpectedly meets the love of his life Geta, a fellow prisoner.
The book takes you on a journey of their love story in the most challenging of circumstances, and how their love for each leads them to handle these battles together. It is a story within a story of love and compassion within cruelty and injustice.
