The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid (2007)
An amazing book. Great representation of South Asians in the Western world. Hamid’s writing reflects the culture shock and the identity crisis that many experience. Structurally, it’s intriguing with a swift narrative pace which hooked me immediately. It left me with many questions and many different points of views.
Easy to read yet hard to forget with references to 9/11 and the discrimination experienced by Muslims in the western world due to stereotyping in the aftermath. I connected with the book on a personal level and highly recommend it.
