Exit West, Mohsin Hamid (2018)

Exit West explores migration, giving an insight into what life is like in countries experiencing conflict and civil war. More specifically, it explores the hunger, the loneliness, the constant fear, death and hope. The characters travel around the world seeking a better place to live – one where they can live a safer and calmer life.

Through his characterisation, Mohsin Hamid is able to communicate to the reader those feelings which are lived in our daily lives but we are unable to describe.

I would recommend this book to someone who perhaps would have an interest in the effect of conflict on a country and its people.
