Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, Cho Nam-Joo (2016)

About the book: Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 is the life story of one young woman born at the end of the twentieth century in South Korea.

It is a book about endemic misogyny and institutional oppression that is relevant to us all: men and women. Honestly, this book opened my eyes even more to the deep rooted problems that still occur to this day especially in relation to male family members being prioritised over female members. I think it’s a book that should be read by to improve awareness and to challenge such social and cultural structures.
