Plot: Things are getting tense at home for Nicky and Kenny as they wait for a visit from their estranged mum. To escape, they go for a walk on the moors, taking their little Jack Russell terrier with them. But after the weather turns bad and a shortcut goes wrong, the boys face serious danger.

Positives: I loved the sense of adventure and independence the boys had. I was also on the edge of my seat as I was so worried about what would happen. You’ll want to finish the book in one sitting!

Negatives: It can be upsetting in parts due to the danger the boys are put in.
